The u10 team set of early on Saturday eager to see if they could retain the cup they won so thrillingly last year in the final against Lavey . Donaghmore started off slowly but successive wins against Ballinderry, Ballybofey , Clann na Gael Lurgan, Bredagh and Glenullin saw us advance to the final against a very fancied Bellaghy team. They had won through their half of the draw by beating Lavey, Glenn Maghery and st galls among others .
After falling 3 nil behind early in the final the boys staged a rousing comeback and emerged narrow 2 point winners. All the players played a huge part over the day with different people emerging as match winners in different games. Noah grimes and John Mckenna accepted the cup on behalf of the team.
The b team competed valiantly throughout the day and were rewarded with a narrow victory over bredagh to go with the 2 draws secured in the early group games. Unfirtunately this was not enough for them to advance to the later stages of their competition.
The most encouraging aspect of the whole day was that all 23 boys got playing a lot of football in a competitive environment and behaved impeccably both on and off the field.
Many thanks to Carryduff on a splendidly run tournament and we look forward to going back next year to defend our cup!!
